Fred was a friend to all, the beginning of many peoples musical journeys, and someone who treasured laughter and camaraderie. Fred loved performing, singing at our concerts, and spending time with his band family. His generosity, community spirit, and joyful presence will never be forgotten.
As a schoolteacher to many, Fred touched countless lives, always offering a friendly word, encouragement, and good humour.
Fred was instrumental in shaping our band.
Established by the Heesh family and administered by the Wonthaggi Citizens’ Band, this scholarship is supported through community donations. Its purpose is to assist young brass band students by covering membership fees, helping ensure that financial barriers don’t prevent them from joining and enjoying the band.
